Real Response's Youth Mental Health and Well-being course is a 4-hour face-to-face or virtual (zoom) training program designed for adolescents and their educators. The course aims to increase awareness and understanding of mental health and well-being in young people, including the factors that contribute to healthy development and the challenges that can impact mental health.
Participants will learn about the impacts of mental health challenges on young people and how to support those experiencing difficulties, including common conditions such as depression and anxiety. The course covers a range of topics, including the importance of building a foundation of healthy habits (both physical and mental), the need for connection and social support, and the benefits of setting a vision for a mentally healthy life.
In addition to these topics, the Youth Mental Health and Well-being course also explores the topics of suicide, eating disorders, psychosis/schizophrenia, and substance misuse. Participants will learn how to recognise the signs and symptoms of these conditions in themselves and their peers and strategies for responding effectively and accessing support.
Real Response's Youth Mental Health and Well-being course is suitable for educators, youth workers, and other adults working with young people. By providing both adolescents and their educators with the tools and knowledge needed to support young people's mental health and well-being, this course can help create a safer, more supportive, and healthy environment for everyone involved.
